The California Supreme Court reached a decision in People v. Diaz that police may lawfully search mobile phones on arrested individuals, without first obtaining a search warrant. New Jersey, nicknamed “The Garden State”, was one of the first to join the United States of America. On December 18, 1787, it became the third state to join the country. The state of New Jersey played a vital role in the American Revolution as many important battles took place there. Later, the factories in the cities Trenton (the capital) and Paterson were an integral part of the industrial revolution. Due to its location, NJ is surrounded by some of the USA’s most powerful cities including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C.
and Baltimore. These cities helped stimulate growth during the suburban boom that occurred in the mid 20th century.
Today, Jerseyites have much to be proud of. The major industries of the place they call home include farming, petroleum-based products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, insurance and tourism. Many people throughout the country and from all over the world vacation here to enjoy many of its fabulous, fun and entertaining hot spots, such as Atlantic City.
Though it is not impressive in terms of size, only the 47th largest in the nation, what new jersey lacks in area it makes up for in population. It is the 11th most populated region and has the highest population density of any other US state. Since there are currently more than 8,600,000 New Jerseyans it should come as no surprise that there are many area codes to accommodate the millions of telephone consumers.
The North American Numbering Plan has assigned a total of 9 codes to the NJ-State and they include: 201, 551, 609, 732, 848, 856, 862, 908 and 973.
Therefore, the next time you see one of these areacodes pop up on your call display, you’ll know that the caller is a new jerseyite.
