Take a sneak peek at Windows 8.
Microsoft has primed potential users by releasing a sneak peek of the forthcoming Windows 8, as it’s named now but that may change. The newer, sleeker version of Windows resembles their current smartphone OS Windows Phone 7. The brightly colored boxes containing useful applications seem to promise a fun, whimsical experience. You can expect Microsoft to include all the great features that makes Windows what it is and include some newer applications that help keep us connected to our social media.
The Windows 8 operating system will be rolled out for tablet PCs as well as standard personal computing devices like desktops and laptops. The application boxes give me the feel that this would be a better swipe and tap system than a double mouse click system. The boxes scream for interaction that can’t be felt through a mouse-click. They need the touchscreen of a smartphone or tablet to bring them to life.
Microsoft will begin requesting application developers start designing apps for the new OS. It should be interesting to see what they come up with. Have no fear if you want to upgrade to Windows 8 but still run your old programs. Microsoft will make sure most of your old programs work just fine. They will also make sure that if you want to send out a tweet or update your status, you can do that too.
Windows 8 is still in development and won’t be released any time soon. We may get a few more previews as they finish up new features and show them off at the tech conferences. As usual with Windows, those who like it will absolutely love it and swear it makes their lives better and those who don’t will find no value in it at all.
Until Windows 8 hits the stores, we will only be able to guess how it will be received. You will get the opportunity to have your say some time next year. For now, we will keep you updated on any product developments.
DirectDeals will do our best to keep you aware of any updates or similar information on Windows 8.
